Krystle Rich previews the Week 15 NFL matchup between the 11-2 Arizona Cardinal and the 6-7 Philadelphia Eagles.
DOVER, Del. – The 6-7 Philadelphia Eagles are in a three-way tie for the top spot in the NFC East with the New York Giants and Washington Redskins.
The Eagles will face the 11-2 Arizona Cardinals on the Sunday Night Football stage in Week 15.
After an upset over the Patriots and a win over the Buffalo Bills, the birds are hoping to make a statement by shutting down on of the most dominate offenses in the league.
“Bruce [Arians] will push the ball down the field,” Eagles Head Coach Chip Kelly said. “He’s got some receivers that can get down the field.”
The Cardinals receiving-core with Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd and Jaron Brown will be the biggest test to Philadelphia’s secondary.
“Just like the speed on the guy man,” Eagles linebacker DeMeco Ryans said. “Brown is really a big-time deep threat. Fitzgerald is a unique receiver in that he’ll line up and they’ll run the ball. They’ll run it to his side and he does a good job at blocking. He will stick his nose in there and block anybody.”
While Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer favors the deep ball, the Eagles defense is sticking to what they know in preparation.
“We’ve just been running the same defense as day one,” Eagles defensive end Fletcher Cox said. “We know we have a great team coming in and we’ll be prepared for it.”
On the offensive side of the ball, Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford is hoping to strengthen the connection with rookie wide-out Nelson Agholor.
Last week Agholor reeled in his first NFL touchdown for 53 yards.
“Hopefully that is a connection that we can build on,” Bradford said. “Obviously it was a great play by him and a great catch. Hopefully we can see more of that.”
