What: WBOC Kickoff Special
When: Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017
Time: 7:00 PM
As week one of the NFL season begins, the focus of the Ravens, Eagles, and Redskins is on their respective quarterbacks. The team at WBOC will provide insight to that and more as we get you ready for the upcoming campaign with our WBOC Kickoff Special.
Ravens
Joe Flacco missed the entire preseason as he nursed a back injury. The Ravens quarterback began practicing this week and all appears fine for the season opener at Cincinnati.
In what seems a never ending quest of finding a play making receiver, the Ravens signed free agent Jeremy Maclin during the off-season. Benjamin Watson missed the entire 2016 season with an Achilles tear. He is healthy and will team with Nick Boyle as the team’s top tight ends. Flacco should also receive help with the addition of pass catching running back Danny Woodhead.
Eagles
After a productive rookie season in 2016, Carson Wentz is poised to take the next step in his development. The Eagles were busy in the off-season providing Wentz some targets. Alshon Jeffrey and Torrey Smith arrive in Philadelphia looking to provide the Eagles the big play threat that has been lacking since DeSean Jackson and Maclin fell out of favor with former head coach Chip Kelly.
The Eagles used their 2017 first round pick on defensive end Derek Barnett. Barnett is the all-time sack leader at the University of Tennessee.
Redskins
For a third straight season Kirk Cousins is playing in the final year of a contract. It is the second straight season the deal is under the franchise tag. The Redskins can’t decide if Cousins is their long-term quarterback despite record setting efforts in 2015 and 2016.
The Redskins allowed their two biggest play making receivers to leave. The hope is Terrelle Pryor and Josh Doctson will have similar success as Jackson and Pierre Garcon.
